JAKARTA - The DPR has fully supported 29 Indonesian athletes who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Red and White team is expected to raise the Red and White flag as well as the Indonesia Raya anthem there.
"The schedule for the match at the Paris Olympics is getting closer. The enthusiasm for the Indonesian contingent and fight for the Red and White and celebrate Indonesia Raya, and uphold high sportsmanship," said Member of Commission X DPR Adreas Hugo Pareira, Wednesday, July 24.

The DPR RI sports Commission also assesses that rock climbing and weightlifting also have the potential to bring gold from the 2024 Paris Olympics. Andreas believes that many of Indonesia's best athletes will fly the Red and White flag on the podium of the quadrennial multi-pronged sports competition.
Climbing cliffs and weightlifting have also made many achievements. I am optimistic that other sports will also give breakthroughs at the Paris Olympics," he said.
Andreas hopes that the Indonesian contingent can give its best performance. He reminded that training for the weather and physical adjustments of athletes must be carried out optimally.
"I am sure that all athletes, coaches and support teams are in top condition. Adaptation with different climate conditions needs to be considered so that athletes get used to it before the match starts," said Andreas.
Furthermore, the legislator from the NTT I electoral district said that the athletes, coaches, and support teams who are members of the Indonesian contingent have shown extraordinary dedication, hard work, and fighting spirit in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Andreas also invited all Indonesian people to support the Garuda Team.
"Support from the Indonesian people will encourage our contingent in Paris. Let's pray for the athletes and all members of the Indonesian team to compete in the Paris Olympics successfully," he said.
On the other hand, Andreas encouraged the Government to continue to pay attention to the progress of Indonesian sports. Including by continuing to provide infrastructure support for the progress of athletes.
"Give facilities to support the athletes' training so that their abilities are getting well honed," said Andreas.
"If Indonesia has complete and good facilities and infrastructure, of course it will help the progress of the athletes so that they can make achievements in the international arena," he continued.
Andreas also ensured that the DPR would continue to provide support to athletes according to the functions and authorities of the council. One of the breakthroughs made by the DPR is related to the protection of old age for athletes in the form of a national social security system through Law Number 11 of 2022 concerning Sports.
"The state must continue to appreciate the services of the athletes who have made the nation proud. We don't want any more incidents of athletes selling medals because of the difficulty of living expenses after retirement," Andreas explained.
The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics will take place on Friday, July 26, 2024 evening local time. The opening ceremony will be held at the Senine River where each country's contingent will take part in a parade by boat along the river from Pont d'Austerlitz to Pont d'Iena.
