Russia Will Discuss Putin's Proposal For The Form Of Eurasian Security Architecture At The 2024 ASEAN Forum

JAKARTA - Russian Foreign Minister (Menlu) Sergey Lavrov will discuss the initiative of the Russian President, Putin in creating the Eurasian security architecture in the ASEAN forum in Laos.

Under current conditions, Russian President Vladimir Putin's initiative to shape the Eurasian security architecture is becoming increasingly important. We view the association, which relies on the principles of equality, respect for all countries and interconnections, as a natural partner in this process," said Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Andrey Rudenko in an interview with Tass, Wednesday, July 24.

Rudenko views that Russia needs to discuss militarization in the Asia-Pacific Region, as well as efforts to deploy more strategic weapons behind the conflict with NATO.

According to him, the Russian Foreign Minister also plans to raise the issue of a closed military bloc that is being promoted in the ASEAN region.

"These issues will be an agenda for ministerial level meetings in the format of the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN Regional Forum on security, along with efforts to eradicate counter-terrorism and transnational crimes, as well as develop maritime cooperation," said Rudenko.

On June 14, Putin instructed officials of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) to communicate the Eurasian security system taking into account the interests of all countries on the two relevant continents.

In a routine meeting of ASEAN foreign ministers, Russian representatives will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The event will take place in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on July 26-27.
