Jokowi Responds To The News That His Government's Era Of Democracy Index Has Decreased

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo responded to the issue that the democracy index in his government era continued to decline.

"Yes, our democracy, the election is going well, the election is going democratically," Jokowi replied as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 19.

Jokowi said that currently people want to associate, argue, organize, nothing is hampered.

In fact, said the President, he always listens to the aspirations of those who cursed and bullied him.

"Every day we also hear people cursing the President, we also hear people bullying the President. If we criticize almost every second there is," he explained.

President Jokowi has also responded to the issue of the democracy index which has decreased in December 2023.

At that time there was one presidential candidate in the presidential candidate debate which said the democracy index had dropped.

The President at that time said that he would make the assessment an evaluation material.

However, the president stressed that the government has never imposed any restrictions on the public to speak and argue.

"Some cursed at the president, some cursed at the president, some humiliated the president, some vilified him too, (I) was mediocre," Jokowi said at the time.
