PGN Increases Gas Utilization To 70 BBTUD In Central Java To Optimize Infrastructure Integration
JAKARTA - PT PGN (Persero) Tbk (PGAS) as Pertamina Gas Subholding continues to increase the use of natural gas in the Central Java region through the integration of natural gas infrastructure in the Central Java region. Gas distribution with this infrastructure integration further increases gas absorption from 48 BBTUD to 60-70 BBTUD. One of the supporters of infrastructure integration in Central Java is the result of Government collaboration through the State Budget, namely the Tambak Rejo Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) facility and business entities through the Central Java distribution network. This ORF facility is operated by the PGN Gas Subholding affiliate, namely PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas).
Natural gas flows from the Jambaran Tiung Biru PEP through the Gresik - Semarang Pipeline (Gresem) which is technically managed by pressure and distribution at the Tambak Rejo ORF towards the IP Tambak Lorok power plant and the household commercial industry in Semarang - Demak. Furthermore, gas also flows towards KIT Batang and the Kendal Special Economic Zone as optimization of the use of the Cirebon Pipe Phase I (Pipa Cisem I), including serving in the Tambak Aji Industrial Estate (KI) and KI Wijaya Kusuma
Overall, natural gas flows for 1 power plant, 31 industries & Commercial and 29 small customers. Absorption volume in industrial customers - customers rose from 0.5 BBTUD to 3.5 BBTUD.
PGN's Director of Infrastructure and Technology Harry Budi Sidharta said that with the integration of Gresem Pipelines, Cisem I Pipelines and Gas Subholding distribution pipes, they can provide more optimum natural gas services and have been prepared in design to support if there is a need for large gas demand. Thanks to the integration of this natural gas infrastructure, the volume of pipeline gas absorption in Central Java is increasing, which previously PGN conducted natural gas infrastructure pioneering 10 years ago using CNG transportation mode.
"This infrastructure integration also confirms PGN's commitment to meeting needs in new areas and channeling the benefits of natural gas sourced from domestic wells for domestic users in order to grow new economic points," said Harry in a written statement, Friday, July 19.

According to Harry, the infrastructure readiness of the company is important in supporting the need for natural gas commercialization in customers. PGN always carries out safety aspects in the operation of all natural gas infrastructure assets.
"PGN strongly supports the development of Cisem Phase 2 by the Government through the APBN which is expected to unite the supply and demand of gas in East Java to West Java or vice versa. Later this will allow the flexibility of operations from East to West to East, so that supply resilience can be maintained and the fulfillment of demand in Java can be served," explained Harry.
As Pertamina's Gas Subholding, PGN continues to strive to keep its portfolio in prime condition as well as the development of natural gas services that are integrative to connect gas networks on the island of Java. "Reliable natural gas supply and can be channeled properly through natural gas infrastructure, both pipeline and beyond pipeline, is our focus. That way, multiplier effects in the use of natural gas can improve the economy of the community and the country," concluded Harry.
