Instagram Users Can Leave Notes In Reels

JAKARTA Instagram will expand Notes, a temporary status feature, into other features on the platform. Starting Thursday, July 18, the Notes feature will be integrated into Reels and posts in grid form. Reporting from The Verge, Notes added to Reels or posts will appear on top of content in the form of small bubbles. Unlike Notes on the Direct Messages (DM) page, the comments left by users will disappear within three days. Apart from being not permanent, Notes for Reels and posts are semi-private or only certain people can see their comments. This feature can be set up to appear on the list of close friends or followers being re-followed. Users can also take advantage of this feature to share Reels and posts that they find interesting. When leaving comments via Notes, users can tag each other by including usernames.

This is a more efficient way to share interesting content. Users no longer need to tap the send button and search for a friend's chat room because other users will immediately get a notification when tagged. If any user finds Notes in Reels or posts they're looking at, these Notes will appear like stickers at the top of the content. Although the display is interesting, some may feel disturbed because the content is closed. Notes for Reels and posts are launched globally so users from across countries can access them. Notes are still rolling out in stages and some users need to wait longer to see the feature.
