Vice President Encourages National Automotive Industry To Continue To Build Independence
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked that the independence of the national automotive industry needs to continue to be built by developing an automotive industry ecosystem, starting from the production of raw materials to the assembly and supporting industries.
The vice president said that this effort was carried out in order to achieve the big vision of Indonesia Gold 2045, with economic transformation through increasing productivity and increasing competitiveness being the key to success.
"I believe the national automotive industry can take a big role in supporting this effort, given the great potential we have," said the Vice President in his remarks at the opening of the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) motor vehicle industry exhibition at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), Tangerang Regency, Banten, Thursday, July 18, confiscated by Antara.
In addition, the Vice President continued, the automotive industry is also required to be more adaptive to increasing public awareness of the environment through the development of environmentally friendly automotive technology such as electric vehicles.
"Some of these things are important in order to strengthen the capacity and added value of the national automotive industry, so that they can compete with other national products," said the Vice President again.
Furthermore, the Vice President said the global automotive industry was recovering after experiencing the exposure to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even in the midst of global uncertainty, the industry was able to grow almost 10 percent in 2023.
"This is of course a potential that must be utilized to spur Indonesia into the top ten motor vehicle manufacturers in the world," said the Vice President.

Meanwhile, at the domestic level, the Vice President explained that the transportation equipment industry contributed to the national economy with a growth rate of more than 7 percent and export performance grew by almost 6 percent in 2023.
