Reconstruction Of The West Jailolo Halmahera People's Market Worth IDR 49.1 Billion This Month
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the North Maluku Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of the Directorate General of Human Settlements revitalizes Jailolo Market in West Halmahera, North Maluku, by using the 2023-2024 State Budget.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that currently the progress of the development of the Jailolo People's Market has reached 97.6 percent.
"This market was built in September 2023 and is targeted for completion in July 2024," said Basuki in a written statement received by VOI, Thursday, July 18.
The reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Jailolo People's Market will adopt the concept of the Sasadu Traditional House with the ornaments of several distinctive fabrics in North Maluku.
This work is divided into three buildings, namely, Block A and Block C buildings are reconstructed by new buildings. While Block B is only being rehabilitated by buildings. Block A building covering an area of 2,016 square meters is designated as a vegetable market, Block B covering an area of 1,276 square meters is used as a basic food stall and Block C covering an area of 1,848 square meters is used as a market for fish and kiosks.
The scope of work includes preparation work, health and work safety (K3), structural work (Block A & Block C), architectural work and MEP for Block A, Block B and Block C.

"The construction and rehabilitation of the Jailolo People's Market was carried out by contractor PT Cimendang Sakti Kontindo and construction management by PT ESTik Griya Consultant with a contract value of Rp49.1 billion," he said.
Meanwhile, West Halmahera Regent James Uang fully supports the market design that adopts local wisdom in North Maluku. "The West Halmahera Regional Government strongly agrees with the form of a market building that adopts the form of Sasadu. This Sahu Traditional House is important as an effort to care for the values of local wisdom that we have," he said.
It is hoped that through the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Jailolo People's Market, it can improve the local economy, especially in the buying and selling sector in West Halmahera Regency. In addition, it is also hoped that it can create a comfortable, clean, neat and integrated people's market.
