Cak Imin Believes There Will Be No More Issues Of Identity Politics In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election

BADUNG - Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB) believes that there will be no more issues of identity politics in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

This was conveyed directly by PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar when he was asked about the potential for Anies Baswedan's meeting with Basuki Tjahja Purnama or Ahok in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

"We'll see, I'm sure there won't be any conflict, everything has changed," he said after providing briefing to the elected PKB legislative candidate in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday, July 17.

Cak Imin, as he is known, took the example of the 2024 General Election, where the issue of identity no longer exists, because political contestation is of higher quality.

"Terbukti pilpres yang lalu sudah tidak ada lagi isu sara yang muncul, kemudian kompetisinya berkualitas, sudah isu-isu dan tema karakyatan yang diadu," ujarnya.

In the Jakarta Pilkada, PKB carries Anies Baswedan as a candidate for governor, but based on the results of the electability survey, Ahok is also a high-electability figure.

Based on the results of a survey ahead of the Jakarta Pilkada by Litbang Kompas conducted on June 15-20, 2024, with 400 random respondents, Anies Baswedan's electability was highest with 29.8 percent.

Although his electability soared far, the Kompas Research and Development survey showed that the second position was filled by Ahok with 20 percent, so there was potential for him to be promoted.

Anies Baswedan himself has been promoted by the National Awakening Party and the Prosperous Justice Party, but PKB has not yet determined the right representative.

"It's (the decision) just to determine the candidate for deputy, it's still a process, we're just processing it," said Cak Imin.
