Airlangga Encourages Jusuf Hamka, Golkar Jakarta Still Hopes For Zaki-Kaesang In The 2024 Jakarta Pilkada

JAKARTA - Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Golkar Party (DPD) Basri Baco admitted that his party still hopes that the Central Leadership Council (DPP) will appoint the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Golkar DPD Ahmed Zaki Iskandar to run in the Jakarta Pilkada. Meanwhile, Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto previously offered the name Jusuf Hamka to be paired with PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep in the 2024 Pilkada Jakarta. "We encourage actually the Zaki-Kaesang pair in the Jakarta Pilgub, a suitable partner and collaboration that matches Kaesang," said Baco in a short message, Wednesday, July 17. According to Baco, Zaki is more suitable to be a candidate for Jakarta cagub-cawagub paired with President Joko Widodo's son. Given, Zaki has experience as the Regent of Tangerang for two periods. "Zaki has a 10-year experience as a regional head, so it is very suitable to lead Jakarta. Kaesang is a millennial element that has great potential," said Baco. "We believe that this pair (Zaki-Kaesang) can better match Mr. Anies," he added. Previously, Airlangga Hartarto met Kaesang Pangarep at the office of the Golkar Central Leadership Council in Slipi, West Jakarta, Thursday, July 11. Airlangga explained that his party prepared a toll road boss, Jusuf Hamka, who is also familiarly called Babah Alun, accompanied Kaesang Pangarep to advance in the 2024 Jakarta Pilgub. "In order to support Kaesang, if he chose Jakarta, I prepare a Golkar Party cadre who has been poorly transverse in infrastructure, namely Babah Alun," said Golkar Party Chair Airlangga Hartarto at the Golkar DPP office of the Golkar Party. Airlangga explained that his party sees Jakarta has a huge challenge, namely to overcome congestration. Therefore, he prepared Babah Alun to be paired with Kaesang in the Jakarta election later.

However, he said that there was still plenty of time to discuss the discourse because registration began on 27-29 August 2024. He said his party was not in a hurry, and would use the survey as a basis, and would be discussed with the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM).
