5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Bitung Wednesday Morning
JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 rocked Bitung, North Sulawesi on Wednesday, July 17 morning. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the earthquake occurred at 06.39 WIB.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 1.30 degrees north latitude (LU) and 126.12 degrees east longitude (BT) or precisely located at a distance of 111 kilometers southeast of Bitung at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Earthquake tremors were felt in Manado, Minahasa, North Minahasa, Bolaran Mongondow, Bitung, Tomohon, and Ternate.

There is no warning about the potential for a tsunami issued by BMKG related to this earthquake. BMKG said this information prioritizes speed, so that data processing results are not stable and can change along with data completeness.
