Criticism Of Chinese Ceramic Dumping Investigation, Faisal Basri: KADI Like Pesilat Mabok
JAKARTA - Senior Economist Indef Faisal Basri criticized the results of the investigation into the Chinese ceramic dumping practice released by the Indonesian Antidumping Committee (KADI). He considered that the investigation brought together all ceramics, both red and blue.
As is known, the government plans to impose an anti dumping import duty (BMAD) for imported ceramic products from China.
"Then the brakes at a level want a measure of how much you are subject to a high import duty. This DISTRICT HEADQUARTERS (KADI) is like the movement of all drunk fighters to be crushed", he said in an Indef discussion in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 16.
Faisal said the majority of ceramic production in Indonesia is red ceramics. Meanwhile, appropriation is still not enough to meet domestic needs.
Furthermore, Faisal said the ceramic industry in Indonesia could only produce 600,000 square meters of ceramic ceramics, while the demand was 1.5 million square meters.
The majority of ceramics in Indonesia is that the analysis of red ceramics is combined even though only a little bit of the capacity of goods times the need is 1.5 million, the domestic production is approximately 600,000. So it can't also meet the domestic industry," he explained.
Faisal also said domestic ceramics are mostly produced with sizes of 30 times 30 and 60 times 60. Meanwhile, the integrity for larger sizes cannot be fulfilled from within the country.

"If it's a big one, Soekarno Hatta, terminal 3, it used to be a carpet (the floor was used), now the carpet has been stolen. That (the mirror) is imported. SOEs. Yes, because the needs like that cannot be met domestically," he said.
Fiasal also highlighted the results of a different KADI investigation between May and July. He assessed that there was intervention from certain parties that pushed the results of the investigation analysis published with the aim of certain parties.
"That's why in July there is a sudden version of change according to the 100 to 200 percent request. I don't think the industrial count is like that either, the trade count is also not. Hopefully it will be rejected. This intervention is all damaged," he said.
