Alexander Marwata Proposes Only KPK Has The Right To Issue Sprindik Corruption Cases

Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata proposed that his institution be in charge of handling corruption in the country. In fact, if necessary only the KPK can issue a warrant for the start of the investigation (sprindik).

"Make the KPK an institution that supervises the handling of corruption cases. All investigations into corruption cases must be issued by the KPK," Alexander said in a written statement to reporters, Monday, July 15.

The police and prosecutors may also assist in the legal process being handled. Alexander said his proposal could be one proof of the full support of the president as the highest leader in the country.

"But they have to report the results of the investigation to the KPK," he said.

Alexander reminded the need for support from all parties to eradicate corruption. "Don't dream of eradicating corruption succeeding if it is not based on political will and full support from the highest leadership of the country," he said.
