Will Work During Recess, Hajj Special Committee Focuses On Investigating These 3 Problems

JAKARTA - The Special Committee (Pansus) Anggat Haji will work during the DPR recess to investigate three main issues. In the nearest meeting, the Special Committee will first determine the leadership element.

"Pansus is planned to work from July 30 to September 30, 2024, or in other words, the special committee will continue to hold meetings during the recess period," said a member of Commission VIII DPR, Wisnu Wijaya, to reporters, Monday, July 15. "There are three main problems that are concerned with a number of factions in parliament and cross-commission members involved in supervising the implementation of the 2024 Hajj, so it is considered necessary to carry out a serious investigation," he added.

The three focus problems that will be investigated by the Hajj Anggat Special Committee are, first, there are indications of violations of Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah related to the transfer of additional hajj quotas that are not in accordance with the provisions of the Law and Presidential Decree of BPIH 1445H/2024M.

Second, transportation, boarding, flights, and various services for regular and special pilgrims which are considered far from eligibility standards.

Third, related to the government's negligence in tackling the large number of pilgrims who do not use official Hajj visas during the Hajj season, causing many problems. Both in terms of legal protection and service quality for official pilgrims.

"In accordance with DPR RI Regulation concerning Order Article 187, in conducting an investigation, the Anggaket Committee can summon the government, in this case it can be from elements of the Ministry of Religion, BPKH, Ministry of Health, and all stakeholders from government elements involved in organizing Hajj for questioning," explained Vishnu.

Apart from government elements, continued Wisnu, the Anggat Special Committee will also summon a number of experts, witnesses, legal entities, and even the public for questioning.

"Regarding the material that will be explored, among them are three things that we mentioned earlier," said the PKS politician.
