KPU Competes With Time To Prepare Logistics For The 2024 Pilkada

The General Election Commission (KPU) has not yet issued technical regulations regarding the simultaneous 2024 Pilkada equipment or logistics. The KPU has just conducted a public test on the draft KPU regulation (PKPU) regarding regional election logistics.

The Coordinator of the Planning, Finance, General, Household, and Logistics Division of the KPU, Yulianto Sudrajat, admitted that his party collided with time in preparing the pilkada stage, especially the preparation of logistics.

Therefore, the KPU will immediately send a PKPU draft regarding the regional election logistics to the DPR so that it can be discussed in a hearing (RDP) before it is ratified.

"We are accelerating public trials so that after this we send PKPU to Commission II of the DPR to obtain approval at the RDP," Yulianto told reporters, Monday, July 15.

According to Yulianto, technical rules regarding the logistics of the 2024 Pilkada must be issued immediately. Given that this democratic contestation will be held simultaneously in provinces and regencies throughout Indonesia.

"We must immediately issue this regulation for the preparation of the provincial KPU and the City Regency KPU which continue to carry out the pilkada stage, so that the readiness is more sufficient. Because as we all know, the logistics process starts from planning, procurement, until later distribution in the D-day," said Yulianto.

In general, Yulianto said that the electoral logistics specifications in the 2024 Pilkada were still the same as in the previous election.

"After all, what we carried out in the 2024 election has also been tested quite well, the box is also good, the booth is good, the ballot is also good. In fact, this logistics challenge is actually in the distribution aspect," said Yulianto.

As an election organizer, the KPU must distribute logistics to nearly 800 thousand polling stations (TPS) throughout Indonesia. Meanwhile, not all areas have a smooth distribution field. Not to mention if there are areas affected by the disaster.

"This is hard work that is needed when the distribution process which is carried out in stages starting from the central KPU, goes directly to the city district because the warehouse is in districts/cities," he added.
