BNPB Provides Drought Disaster Management Training For BPBD East Java

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in collaboration with the East Java Provincial Government provides training to hundreds of BPBD personnel throughout East Java in order to improve the ability and completeness of disaster management facilities.

The Sarasehan Holding Equipment and Logistics activity, which was attended by district/city BPBD personnel throughout East Java, took place from Saturday (13/7) to Tuesday (16/7) in the Boom Beach area of Banyuwangi Regency.

"There are several activities including the competition to install tents, overcome competitions when a disaster occurs in the water and so on," said Head of BNPB Lt. Gen. Suharyanto to reporters in Banyuwangi, East Java, Sunday.

According to him, BNPB also provides operational budget assistance because there are dozens of regencies/cities in East Java that have established a drought emergency alert status entering the dry season this year.

Several areas in East Java, continued Lt. Gen. Suharyanto, have entered the dry season even though in other provinces it is still raining.

"There are several areas in East Java that have not rained for 45 days, so we will experience the previous year and we also agree that the disaster is a recurring incident, not suddenly," he told Antara.

Therefore, Sarasehan's activity to Hold Equipment and Logistics is to increase vigilance, preparation and preparedness of personnel for the dry season.
