Gorontalo Is Still Flooding, KPU Strives For Undisturbed Re-election

The General Elections Commission (KPU) will hold a re-voting (PSU) for the 2024 Legislative Election in a number of areas on Saturday, July 13 tomorrow.

One of the areas that will be held for the re-election is Gorontalo, which is still hit by floods.

Acting Chairman of KPU Mochammad Afifuddin said that his party was trying not to disturb the implementation of the PSU in Gorontalo.

"Regarding the disaster that occurred, we have received reports from friends and it is certain that steps are possible to hold PSU in areas affected by the disaster," Afif said at the KPU office, Central Jakarta, Friday, July 12.

Afif said that his staff had gone to the field to ensure that the PSU in Gorontalo and a number of other areas could run smoothly tomorrow.

"We have received all the updates and shared tasks for the teams that came to the PSU areas. God willing, everything will be ready," said Afif.

Afif said the electoral logistics to be used in the re-election tomorrow are being distributed to locations with affordable mobility with polling stations (TPS).

"Today, some of the points are not too far distributed. We have checked everything, including the farthest area in Mountains Papua," he explained.

It is known, the KPU scheduled a re-voting in a number of regions on July 13, 2024. This PSU was carried out following up on the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the 2024 Legislative Election dispute.

The next day, the PSU was held for the election of the DPRD of Gorontalo Province for the electoral district 6, Tarakan City DPRD 1, Riau Provincial DPRD 3 and the Regional House of Representatives for Rokan Hulu Regency 3, Jayawijaya Regency DPRD 4, Papua DPRD Mountains 1, and DPD RI West Sumatra.
