Deputy Minister Of Communication And Information Encourages 3P Approach To Increase AI Use

JAKARTA - In today's digital era, the artificial intelligence (AI) technology landscape is growing rapidly. In almost all fields, AI has an important role in it.

However, at the same time, promotion, protection of human rights and environmental sustainability are global concerns with the presence of instruments regarding the ethics of utilizing the latest technology.

For this reason, Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, stated that the implementation of governance with a Policy, Platform and People or 3P approach is needed to ensure the ethical and responsible application of AI.

According to the Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Policy will emphasize the importance of incorporating elements of security, justice, and inclusiveness into AI.

The platform highlights the need to create an inclusive AI ecosystem through inter-platform collaboration. While People focus on empowering the development of community capacity," Nezar added, quoted Friday, July 12.

Although Indonesia does not yet have regulations regarding AI, he explained the implementation of general and cross-sectoral regulations to ensure legal certainty.

"Like Law no. 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions and the provisions of the amendments, Law no. 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection, and Circular on AI Ethics. There are also regulations that only apply to certain industrial sectors," he said.

In terms of platforms, the existence of cloud computing is one of the sectors for implementing AI technology for the application of digital strategies.

"AI is very important in cloud computing. Cloud technology with AI, IoT, and analytics, is very important and becomes the foundation for digital strategy," said the Deputy Minister of Communication and Information.

Therefore, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Information emphasized that the acceleration of the national digital transformation agenda could be achieved with Indonesia as well as the principles of infrastructure transfer and knowledge transfer.
