Stellantis Ready To Flood European Market With 36 New Hybrid Models
JAKARTA - European auto giant Stellantis announced its ambitious plans to launch 36 new hybrid models at affordable prices on the blue continent by 2026.
This step is driven by market demand that is increasing against hybrid vehicles as an alternative transition to full electrification.
Quoting Reuters on Thursday, July 11, Stellantis will launch 30 hybrid models this year on nine of its brands, including Fiat, Peugeot, Jeep, Citroen and Alfa Romeo. Then six brands will launch the vehicle in the next two years.
Stellantis' decision to focus on the mid-hybrid system is a different strategy than most other automotive companies. The system is considered more concise and cost-effective using low-voltage 48V which is able to cooperate with various components to regenerate energy during braking.
"If you compare this system with a high-voltage hybrid, it has CO2 gains that are very similar to lower costs for our customers," said Vice President of Propulsion System Stellantis EMEA Region Christian Muller.

Muller emphasized that the Eid-hybrid Stellantis system is as effective as other systems, but at a more affordable price.
"Our system offers the same performance as a more friendly price," he added.
The mid-hybrid technology allows vehicles to go up to 1 km in full-electric mode, compared to a range of 80 km on plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology.
