12 Youths About To Brawl Arrested In Kendari, A Number Of Sajams Arrested

The police arrested 12 youths who wanted to fight using sharp weapons on Jalan Sorumba, Wawowanggu Village, Kadia District, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra).

Head of the Kendari Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Fitrayadi, said they were arrested around the nightclub area in the area, on Wednesday, July 11 at around 21.00 WITA.

"Initially, we received information from one of the residents around the TKP (the crime scene), that there was a group of teenagers gathering and wanting to do a brawl with other groups," said Fitrayadi, Thursday, July 11, quoted by Antara.

Armed with this information, his party immediately dispatched a team to visit the location reported by residents. Sure enough, when visited, a group of teenagers carrying sharp weapons (sajam) was found.

"At that time, the team immediately secured the 12 teenagers along with the sharp weapons they brought," he said.

Fitrayadi revealed that the teenagers were then immediately escorted to the Kendari Police Headquarters for further examination.

"We confiscated the evidence, there was a machete, a comb machete, a knife, and a bow," said Fitrayadi.

The identities of the teenagers each had the initials TDW (21), ALM (20), ZA (16), AM (19), RS (17), IS (19), FS (16), MKK (16), MA (20), ES (18), ZFK (20), LD AH (16).

Fitrayadi said that the perpetrators who carried sharp weapons would be subject to Article 2 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 with the threat of 12 years in prison.

He also appealed to all parents to take care of their children so as not to commit a crime and so that they can do positive things.

"Let's take care of Kendari City Kamtibmas together, especially ahead of the implementation of the 2024 democratic party," he said.
