Israeli Attack In Syria Kills Former Hezbollah Leader Guard
JAKARTA - An Israeli attack hit a vehicle in Syrian territory on the Damascus-Beirut highway, killing one of the former bodyguards of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
According to security sources, Yasser Nimr Qarbash has recently been involved in transporting weapons to the group.
Reported by Reuters on Tuesday, July 9, Hezbollah issued a statement of condolences for Yasser's death without elaborating on his role in the organization. Two security sources said the former bodyguard had become Hezbollah's middle-level official involved in arms transport.
Israel usually does not discuss its troops' attacks in Syria. When asked about the attack, an Israeli military spokesman said he had not commented on foreign media reports.
