Jokowi Regarding Kaesang Forward To Pilkada: Parents' Task Is Only To Pray
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo responded to journalists' questions about the blessing given to his youngest son Kaesang Pangarep, who is said to have the potential to run in the 2024 Pilkada.
The President emphasized that his duties as parents were only to pray.
"The task of parents is only to pray," said Jokowi briefly after releasing Indonesia's humanitarian assistance for Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 8.
Previously, President Joko Widodo had emphasized not interfering with Kaesang Pangarep's political steps, who is the General Chair of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
During a working visit to Karawang a few days ago, Jokowi denied the issue that he offered Kaesang's name to a number of political parties to be promoted in the Pilkada.
"I have never offered (names) to anyone. To the party, never, (try) ask the parties," said Jokowi after the inauguration of the battery factory and the electric vehicle ecosystem of PT HLI Green Power in Karawang, West Java, last Wednesday (3/7).

The President emphasized that the regional elections are a matter of political parties, so that the matter of who is nominated in the upcoming November regional elections is also the right of political parties.
