Despite Losing In Pretrial Peti Setiawan, Bareskrim Still Believes West Java Police Handles Vina Cirebon Case

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police still trusts the West Java Regional Police to handle cases of alleged murder of Vina and Eky Cirebon. Although, Pegi Setiawan has lost in the pretrial process.

"For this handling, of course, we are still entrusting the West Java Regional Police to handle it," said Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro to reporters, Monday, July 8.

Bareskrim emphasized that the pretrial decision would be an evaluation material. Because, if you look more closely, the single judge's decision to grant Pegi Setiawan's lawsuit was because investigators did not fulfill the formal element in handling the case.

"Then whether the formal that we follow together is that the judge also said that there is a formal that is not fulfilled by investigators," he said.

"This is of course our joint evaluation, we also see evaluations of existing investigators, how the process is," continued Djuhandani.

Apart from that, the National Police, especially the West Java Regional Police, emphasized that Djuhandani followed the court's decision to release Pegi Setiawan.

"Of course we, with what is today's decision, are decisions that are mandatory for us law enforcers to comply with existing decisions," said Djuhandani.

Peti Setiawan won the pretrial regarding his determination as a suspect in the murder case of Vina and Eky Cirebon. This is because the sole judge granted all of his lawsuits.

Several points of the judge's decision were to release Pegi Setiawan from detention. Then, ordered West Java Police investigators to stop the investigation process against Pegi Setiawan.

Peti Setiawan is known to have been named a suspect by the West Java Regional Police on May 26, 2024.
