His Name Is Proposed By PSI West Jakarta To Be Cagub DKI, Ahok Says There Is No Communication Yet

JAKARTA - Former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) responded to his name being included in one of PSI West Jakarta's proposals as a candidate for the Governor-Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta.

Ahok, who now serves as Chairman of the PDIP Central Leadership Council (DPP), admitted that PSI Jakbar had no communication regarding the proposal to include his name.

"Never (there has been communication with PSI)," Ahok said in a short message, Monday, July 8.

Ahok was reluctant to respond to his name's willingness to be proposed as a candidate for PSI cagub-cawagub. According to Ahok, the proposal should have been submitted to the PDIP DPP to be followed up.

The party led by Megawati Soekarnoputri, according to Ahok, has a proposal mechanism with a structured brewing from the regional to central levels.

"PDI struggles to have a proposed mechanism and not by speaking in the media. Cooperation with the party can be carried out by the general chairman's decision," Ahok explained.

As previously reported, the West Jakarta PSI Regional Leadership Council (DPD) held a plenary meeting of administrators from the city level to sub-districts in West Jakarta. As a result, there were 6 names of cagub-cawagub proposed to the DKI Jakarta PSI Regional Leadership Council (DPW).

Some of the proposed names include party leaders, namely PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep and PSI Board of Trustees Deputy Chair Grace Natalie.

Other names proposed are Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, former Governor of DKI Jakarta who is now Chairman of the DPP PDIP Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), and celebrity Deddy Corbuzier.

"This selection process is very important to ensure that PSI Jakarta can carry candidates who have integrity, competence, and a clear vision to advance Jakarta," said Acting Chairman of the West Jakarta PSI DPD William Aditya Sarana.

The chairman of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD explained that the names proposed by the West Jakarta PSI management were also the result of constituent aspirations in his area.

"We have involved various elements of society, especially in West Jakarta and listened to their aspirations to ensure that the recommended candidates are the best and most appropriate to lead Jakarta in the future," William explained.
