Lawyers Yakin Pegi Setiawan Bisa Bebas Usai Sidang Pretrial 'Lawan' Polda Jabar
JAKARTA - Pegi Setiawan's power team believes that the panel of judges at the Bandung District Court, West Java, will win their lawsuit so that his client will be released after the pretrial hearing.Pegi Setiawan's attorney, Muchtar Effendi, expressed his belief that the pretrial process would reveal the incompatibility of procedures in determining the suspect against his client."Since we submitted the pretrial lawsuit to the Bandung District Court, we are very optimistic that we will win this pretrial because we all have the principle that nothing in this world can beat the truth," Muchtar said in Bandung, Antara, Friday, July 5.Muchtar conveyed that the conclusion file submitted by the legal team today is expected to be a fair consideration for the panel of judges. At the conclusion points written down, it was stated that his client, Pegi Setiawan, had to be released because the West Java Regional Police could not show evidence that the Peti Setiawan who was arrested was Pegi Perong who was set on the wanted list (DPO)."The point is that the West Java Regional Police cannot show us that the Pegi Perong is a Peti Setiawan," said Muchtar. He emphasized the importance of a fair and transparent legal system in ensuring that the truth can be revealed. Therefore, he asked the Bandung District Court judges to be independent in making decisions."We are all a team of attorneys for Pegi Setiawan with the principle that if we do not win the pretrial alone, it means that law enforcement in our country has been chaotic and destroyed," he said.Meanwhile, single judge Eman Sulaeman emphasized that the decision to be read out on Monday (8/7) next week is the best decision for the attorney for Pegi Setiawan and the West Java Police legal team.
"This is not for the applicant or the respondent, but the best decision for Indonesia," said Eman.
