Ministry Of Transportation Reveals Challenges When Revitalizing Type A Passenger Terminal

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) revealed the challenges faced when revitalizing the Type A passenger terminal.

Of the 112 terminals that have been handed over from the local government, only 38 terminals have been successfully revitalized.

Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Risyapudin Nurdin revealed that several challenges in managing Type A terminals were submitted to the Ministry of Transportation. Like a less strategic terminal location.

"Unmaintained terminal conditions, in-term terminal activities that are not in accordance with the transportation service function, and terminal functions that are only for boarding and unloading passengers. Several terminals were handed over in non-operative conditions," he said during a meeting with Commission V of the DPR, at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Thursday, July 4.

Risyapudin said that in revitalizing the terminal, the Ministry of Transportation considered the potential for demand or demand and completeness of planning documents. He said that from 2019 to 2023, the Ministry of Transportation has gradually revitalized the terminal.

"From 2019 to 2023, the Directorate General of Hubdat has gradually revitalized terminals throughout Indonesia. The total number of terminals that have been Revitalized currently stands at 38 terminals," he said.

In 2019, he said, the revitalization was carried out on one terminal. Then, in 2020 there will be five terminals.

Then in 2021 as many as six terminals were successfully revitalized.

In 2022, the number of terminals revitalized is 12 terminals, and in 2023 there will be 13 terminals.

Risyapudin revealed that the revitalization of this terminal facility had a positive impact and encouraged increased public interest in traveling using mass transportation from the terminal.

"It's a relief, but surely the increase in the number of community visits at the terminal has begun to be seen since the revitalization activity," he explained.

For the number of vehicles, he continued, before it was revitalized, it was recorded at 3,060,584.

After revitalization there was an increase, the number of vehicles became 3,250,741.

As for visitors, after being revitalized, there were 31,323,715 people from the previous 28,363,632 people.

"The terminal revitalization activity requires support from all elements of the organizers and transportation operators who are at the terminal to maintain and ensure that the minimum service standards that must be provided can be carried out properly," he said.
