Giving Bribes To Abdul Gani Kasuba, Head Of North Maluku Education And Culture Detained By KPK
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained the Head of the North Maluku Education and Culture Office, Irman Jakub, today. This forced effort was carried out after he was appointed a bribe for the inactive North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba.
"Detention was carried out at the KPK branch detention center," said Asep Guntur Rahayu, Director of KPK Investigation at a press conference at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.
Irman was actually caught in the arrest operation (OTT) Abdul Gani Kasuba on December 18, 2023. However, at that time the evidence to ensnare him was incomplete.
Investigators also developed allegations of project bribery, licensing and buying and selling positions in the North Maluku Provincial Government. "At the time of the arrest of AGK (Abdul Gani Kasuba), IJ (Irman Jakub) was secured by the KPK team, but the evidence was not fulfilled," said Asep.
"Through a series of investigative activities against AGK, sufficient evidence was found to strengthen IJ so that he was named a suspect," he continued.

In this case, the KPK suspects that Irman Jakub bribed Abdul Gani Kasuba and the Head of the North Maluku Goods and Services Procurement Agency (BPBJ) Ridwan Arsan in the amount of Rp 1.2 billion. The bribe in the two stages was given by Irman to become the head of the North Maluku Education and Culture Office.
"The award is an agreement that occurred between AGK and IJ before the suspect IJ was appointed head of the North Maluku Education Office," he said.
As a result of his actions, Irman was detained for the first 20 days until July 23. The extension will be carried out according to the needs of investigators.
He is suspected of violating Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or letter b or Article 13 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
