The Bureau Of The UN Committee Praises Indonesia's Role, Ambassador Mansour: Supporters Of Peace, Justice And Solutions Of The Two Countries

JAKARTA - Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations Riyad H. Mansour praised Indonesia's consistency and role in his country, when the UN Palestinian Committee Bureau (CEIRPP) visited Jakarta.

In a joint press statement at Jakarta, Ambassador Mansour said that his party together with the committee thanked the Indonesian government and residents for the formation of public opinion in Indonesia.

"Indonesia is one of the strongest supporters of the Palestinians for peace, justice and implementation of a two-state solution," said Ambassador Mansour in a press statement at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the CEIRPP Delegation, Thursday, July 4.

He said, as one of the strongest supporters of Palestinian independence, Indonesia, which is located at CEIRPP, made various efforts at the United Nations to end the war.

"We are very grateful that Indonesia is very active in issues about Palestine," said Ambassador Mansour.

Meanwhile, the Senegal Ambassador to the United Nations and Chair of the Cheikh Niang Committee appreciated Indonesia's support for the committee and Palestine since decades ago.

"Indonesia is the strongest supporter of Palestine, support comes from all components of Indonesia, government to society," said Ambassador Niang.

"Indonesia has always shown support since this committee was founded in 1975 and Indonesia has become a member. Indonesia has played an important and crucial role since then, becoming the first country to recognize Palestine 1988," he continued.

In addition to Ambassador Niang and Ambassador Mansour, the CEIRPP delegation consisting of the Indonesian Ambassador to the United Nations as well as Deputy Chair of the Arramanatha C. Nasir Committee, the Namibia Ambassador to the United Nations and Deputy Chair of the Neville Melvin totalze Committee, the Malaysian Ambassador to the United Nations as well as the Deputy Chairperson and Reporting Committee Ahmad Faisal Muhammad and the Ambassador of Nicaragua to the United Nations Jaime Hermida Castillo visited Indonesia on July 3-5.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this visit was to attract input from stakeholders regarding the Palestinian issue in Indonesia, increasing commitment and support for the fulfillment of the rights of the Palestinian people.

"This visit is a form of UN confidence in Indonesia to host Indonesia as a form of Indonesia's active participation in the UN Palestinian Committee Bureau," explained the Director General of Multilateral Cooperation of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Tri Tharyat.

During a visit to Jakarta, the Delegation held a meeting with the Vice President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Defense, the DPR, the Permanent Deputy of ASEAN Countries in Jakarta, as well as representatives of businessmen and the civil society.

It said the series of meetings were to discuss various efforts to increase support for the Palestinian people. Indonesia also continues to emphasize support for a permanent ceasefire and encourages the entry of humanitarian aid in Gaza, encouraging full Palestinian membership at the United Nations to open the door to a political settlement based on a two-state solution.
