PB Persani Is Looking For A New Talent To Prepare For The 2028 Olympics

JAKARTA The Executive Board of the Indonesian Gymnastics Association (PB Persani) has begun to look for talented athletes to prepare to pass them to the next edition of the Olympics in 2028.

One of the events held for the regeneration of athletes is the 3rd Gymnastics Indonesia Open 2024 which will take place from July 4-14, 2024. Artistic, aerobics, rhythmics, trademakers, and parkour are the five disciplines competed this year.

Persani General Chair, Ita Yuliati, said that there must be athlete regeneration so that Indonesia can be proud when there are important international events. "Now our challenge is to find the equivalent talents of Rifda Irfanalutfi who can qualify for the 2028 Olympics and so on," said Ita in a statement received.

The Indonesia Open 2024 was attended by more than a thousand athletes. They consist of 770 athletes who competed in artistic discipline, 155 athletes at the rhythm, 52 athletes in the trampolin, 75 athletes in the aerobics, and 73 athletes in the parkour. Ita said that their efforts to find a successor to Rifda through the Indonesia Open 2024 received facility support from several parties. This allows them to hold more discipline.

"We hope that this collaboration can be established in the medium and long term," said Ita.

Previously, the first edition of the Indonesia Open in 2022, Persani only competed in artistic discipline. Meanwhile, a year later as many as three disciplines were contested, namely artistic, rhythmic, and aerobics. This year there will be four locations for organizing the five disciplines. The details, artistic and rhythmic disciplines are held at the British School Jakarta (BSJ), aerobics at GOR Bulungan, tradelin at Bounce Street, and parkour at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora). Until now, gymnastics does not yet have a hall with complete facilities that can be used not only as a training ground for national athletes, but also for tournaments. The facilities needed by Persani are currently being built by the Ministry of Youth and Sports at Gymnastics Hall, Cibubur, Jakarta. The place is likely to be completed in October 2024.
