Garuda Boss Asks DPR To Summon The Ministry Of Transportation To Discuss The Increase In Upper Limit Tariffs
JAKARTA - President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk Irfan Setiaputra asked the DPR to summon the Ministry of Transportation to discuss the increase in flight ticket upper limit rates (TBA).
Moreover, continued Irfan, TBA, which is currently valid, has not changed for the past five years or since 2019.
"Since 2019, ladies and gentlemen have not raised it. So please invite the relevant ministries to be able to help Garuda, so that the upper limit tariff can be opened again. I have been talking about this for the last few months," he said during a joint meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 3.
Furthermore, Irfan assessed that the relaxation of TBA was something important to do. This is because the current TBA is not in accordance with the company's expenses or costs.
"Try to check how much the exchange rate is now Rp. 16,000, how much is the aviation fuel. So, I am frankly asking for this TBA to be raised so that we can also breathe, right," he explained.
Previously, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) evaluated the upper limit tariff (TBA) and scheduled aircraft ticket lower limit (TBB) rates, following the proposal of the Indonesian National Aviation Company Association for the government to release the issue mechanism.
"Regarding tariffs or tickets, the government is indeed evaluating," said Secretary General of Air Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation Sigit Hani Hadiyanto on the sidelines of Indonesia AERO Summit 2024 in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, July 3.

Sigit said that the study was still being carried out in line with the proposal from the airline through the Indonesia National Air Carrier Association (INACA).
Even so, Sigit did not explain more deeply regarding the evaluation of the upper and lower limit rates.
"Indeed, now, the upper and lower limit rates apply. However, INACA's aspirations will later become considerations," he explained.
