Samsung Launches Electric Energy Management Solutions In SmartThings

JAKARTA SmartThings, a smart home automation platform, launched a demand response program called SmartThings Energy Flex Connect. This program Samsung launched in California and New York. Conditional users can already register the device into the program via SmartThings Energy. Various devices that can be registered are thermostat, plugs, AC, lights, television, and other equipment. Samsung explains that equipment registered to SmartThings Energy services must be equipment that can participate, "in energy events and save energy while the power grid is being burdened." This program can convert energy through three ways. First, SmartThings Energy Flex Connect will automatically activate AI Energy Mode to save energy usage as electricity demand is on the rise. Second, users can consume less energy with power outage functions. Some of the equipment supported by this program will be turned off when not needed, including electrical equipment such as lighting and plugs.

Finally, power saving can be done by adjusting the intelligent temperature in the thermostat. To experience these three things, SmartThings app users can select the devices they want to participate in and adjust their preferences. "With automation capabilities embedded in SmartThings Energy, registered devices participate in an event when the Request Response signal is received, allowing users to support the power grid and save energy," explains Samsung. All participants will get Samsung Rewards points when registering and automating their devices. This point giving will encourage users to save energy for sustainability efforts.
