2024 Copa America: Draw 0-0 Against Ecuador, Mexico Knocked Out In Group Round
JAKARTA - The final match of the group B of the 2024 Copa America has received unsatisfactory results because it ended 0-0 for Ecuador and Mexico. However, Ecuador was on the lucky side because this result brought them through to the quarter-finals.
Ecuador and Mexico met at the State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Arizona on Monday, July 1 morning WIB. This match is the determinant of both teams who are still likely to qualify for the quarter-finals.
To qualify for the quarter-finals, Ecuador needs a minimum draw. Meanwhile, Mexico must win to step into the knockout round.
In the first half, the game was so tough because even though the two teams attacked each other, no goals were created for either party. After the break, Mexico, who needed a win, appeared more aggressive.
Mexico had a chance through Santiago Gimenez, but his header did not lead to the goal. Not long after, Julian Quinones' shot from outside the penalty box forced Ecuadorian goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez to make a save.
