Ministry Of Home Affairs Affirms: Acting Regents, Mayors, And Governors Must Resign If They Want To Participate In The 2024 Pilkada
Sorong - The Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) emphasized that the acting (Pj) regents, mayors, and governors must resign from their positions if they want to run in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) in the region.
The Director General of Politics and General Government of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Togap Simangunsong, conveyed an important message from the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, regarding the rules for Acting who want to run in the 2024 Pilkada.
"The Acting Officer must submit his resignation from his position starting 40 days before registration starts, which is around 14-15 July 2024," Togap explained in Sorong on Saturday, June 29.
He added that many reports and complaints were received regarding the Acting Officer who had installed billboards, but according to the rules they had to submit a resignation 40 days before registration.

An example of this case has occurred in West Nusa Tenggara, where the Acting Governor has resigned first. "The Acting Governor of NTB who was newly inaugurated came from North Sumatra, while the Acting South Sumatra was transferred to North Sumatra," said Togap.
This rule also applies in Southwest Papua. "If there is an Acting at the district or city level who wants to advance, then the consequence is that they are obliged to resign from their positions," said Togap.
Acting Governor, Acting Mayor of Sorong, Acting Regent of Tambrauw, Acting Regent of Maybrat, and Acting Regent of Sorong must comply with this rule if they want to participate in the 2024 Pilkada.
