Urges Government To Immediately Evaluate PPDB Zoning, KPAI: For Future Improvements
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has asked the government, in this case, the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) to evaluate the Zoning New Student Admission System (PPDB).
KPAI member Aris Adi Leksono said the evaluation was so that all Indonesian children could access quality education.
"The implementation of the PPDB system must be evaluated for future improvements. With the choice of the Zoning PPDB model, the main homework is equitable quality and access to education," he said when contacted in Jakarta, Friday, June 28, which was confiscated by Antara.
According to him, this evaluation is important to change people's views regarding superior or unseeded schools, favorite schools and not favorites, so people don't need to be crowded, forcing, even justifying all means to send their children to school who are considered superior or favorite.
Furthermore, he said, it is necessary to map the potential of children who will access certain levels of education, so that the capacity of students will be read out in each region.

He said the mapping was important to ensure that all children had the right to education according to their growth and development phase.
"In the end, PPDB with a rights fulfillment system will ensure that before the time for children to go up to school, parents/guardians have received notification from the local government/education unit that the child will be accepted to the nearest school, public school A, B, C, or private school with the PPDB scheme with D, F, and so on," said Aris Adi Leksono.
Then one of the efforts to overcome the lack of capacity for students in certain areas, he said, is to empower the private sector with a joint PPDB scheme.
"The cost of education in the joint PPDB scheme must be borne by the regional government (Pemda) according to the minimum standards of valid education services," he concluded.
