Constitution Day Held August 18, 2024, MPR Leader Invites Jokowi
JAKARTA - The leadership of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) invited President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to attend the Constitutional Day Commemoration on August 18, 2024 in Jakarta.
The commemoration was held a day after the agenda for the 79th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN).
"We invited the President to complete the Presidential Decree (Keppres) by attending the upcoming commemoration of the upcoming August 18, 2024 Constitution Day," said Deputy Chairperson of the MPR Ahmad Basarah after holding an internal meeting with President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Friday, June 28, which was confiscated by Antara.
He said, Constitution Day is a historic momentum in commemorating the birth of the Indonesian state administration system, one of which is the 1945 Constitution which is the basis for Indonesian law.
He said Presidential Decree No. 24 of 2016 concerning the Birthday of Pancasila explained that the process of Pancasila's birth began with the June 1 address of President Soekarno, then developed in the script for the Jakarta Charter on June 22, 1945.
"Finalnya pada 18 Agustus 1945 sebagai satu unit proses pembentukan Pancasila sebagai dasar dan ideologi negara negara negara Indonesia, di mana ketika itu Pelatihan Kemerdekaan Indonesia mengahtikan UUD 1945 sebagai konstitusi negara Indonesia kebebasan," katanya.

Responding to the invitation, Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno ensured that President Jokowi would fulfill the invitation.
"Regarding the invitation from the leadership of the MPR RI to the President to attend the Commemoration of Constitution Day on the evening of August 18, 2024 in Jakarta, the President stated that he would arrange time to attend," he said.
The consultation meeting was attended by the Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo, along with eight Deputy Chairs of the MPR RI, namely Ahmad Basarah, Ahmad Muzani, Jazilul Fawaid, Sjarifuddin Hasan, Muhammad Hidayat Nur Wahid, Yandri Susanto, Muhammad Amir Uskara, and Fadel Muhammad, and the Secretary General of the MPR RI Siti Fauziah.
Meanwhile, he was present to accompany President Jokowi, namely Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
