Sightings Of SYL Et Al's Claims File, Thousands Of Pages Thick

JAKARTA - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the Corruption Eradication Commission or the KPK will read out the charges against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL in the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities. The lawsuit file is called 1,576 pages thick.

This was discovered when Chief Judge Rianto Adam Pontoh asked the prosecutor's opinion regarding the mechanism for reading the charges. This is because in this case there are two other defendants, namely Kasdi Subagyono and Muhammad Hatta.

Therefore, the prosecutor advised specifically for SYL to read the charges that would be carried out separately from the other two defendants.

"The time for today's trial is efficient, Your Honor, because this letter of demand is specifically for Syahrul Yasin Limpo consisting of 1,576 pages, each of which is the same for the defendants Muhamad Hatta and Kasdi," said the prosecutor at the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Friday, June 28.

Later, the public prosecutor will read out the facts of the trial, legal facts, juridical analysis, and tunutan.

"We read the conclusions and amar completely," he said.

Meanwhile, for the defendants Kasdi Subagyono and Muhamad Hatta, the prosecutor will only read out the juridical analysis and demands.

"We will go directly to the juridical analysis because the facts of the trial are almost the same," said the prosecutor.

In this case, SYL was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion during the 2020-2023 period.

This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

This money was used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. In addition, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 billion from January 2020 to October 2023.

SYL was charged with violating Article 12 letter e and Article 12 letter f or Article 12B in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
