Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Asks For Cases Related To Pilkada To Be Investigated To Avoid Noise

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto reminded law enforcement officers (APH) to be careful when investigating criminal cases related to regional elections so as not to spark noise in the community.

"Law enforcement needs to be carried out carefully so as not to cause a commotion in the community," Hadi said in his key speech read by Deputy III for Legal and Human Rights Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Sugeng Purnomo while attending the Integrated Law Enforcement Center Coordination Forum (Gakkumdu) in Makassar, South Sulawesi reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 27.

Coordinating Minister Hadi said law enforcement officials must keep the situation conducive and not noisy so that potential clashes can be prevented.

Therefore, Hadi advised them to remain professional and must be neutral, aka not subject to the political interests of certain candidate pairs (paslon) or political parties.

"The public's concern about the interference of the police in law enforcement, especially when entering the pilkada season, must be used as a siren and a reminder that law enforcement officers continue to work professionally based on responsibilities," continued Hadi in his speech read by Sugeng.

In front of the police leadership, the prosecutor's office, the TNI for the Maluku, Sulawesi and Kalimantan regions, Hadi also reminded them and the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) to equalize perceptions regarding the norms of criminal offenses and patterns of handling criminal acts related to regional elections.

"Communication and coordination are important keys so as not to cause different interpretations of offenses and handling of criminal acts that can confuse justice seekers," he said.

Hadi said the Gakkumdu Center Forum was also an opportunity for law enforcement officers and Bawaslu to strengthen the coordination.

"Law enforcement is an important aspect that must be considered in the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada. Bawaslu, Police, Prosecutors' Office at every level both central and regional levels must work hand in hand to oversee the implementation of this regional election," said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
