Polda Metro Dismantles Fraud Mode Offering Likes And Subscribes YouTube Accounts

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya dismantled the practice of fraud mode of offering pressure work likes and YouTube account subscribers. In this case, the losses of the victims reached Rp806 million.

"Disclosure of alleged criminal acts of fraud through electronic media," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak in his statement, Thursday, June 27.

From the disclosure of this fraud case, two suspects were arrested. They have the initials EO and SM.

The fraudulent act they committed started by sending a short WhatsApp message to the victim's number.

The suspect admitted that he was from one of the companies that intended to offer him work, press likes and subscribes to his YouTube account.

"Waying a job to do videos on YouYube with a commission of Rp. 31 thousand," he said.

If the victim agrees, they must deposit the money first. However, Ade did not explain the nominal deposit.

"After agreeing to do the job, the victim is required to make a deposit before being given a work mission," he said.

Even with the number of victims who have been deceived. Only conveyed, from the fraud, the suspects made a profit of Rp806 million.

"For this incident, the complainant suffered a loss of Rp.806,220,000," said Ade.

In this case, the two suspects were charged with Article 28 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 45 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions and/or Article 378 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 81 and/or Article 82 and/or Article 87 of Law Number 3 of 2011 concerning Fund Transfer and/or Article 3, Article 4 and Article 5 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU).
