US Shocks Israeli Military Video Ties Palestinians On Jip's Kap: Humans Should Not Be Branded Shields

JAKARTA - The United States (US) State Department said it was shocked by a video of an injured Palestinian man tied to a military chartered car by Israeli forces. The US urged a quick investigation to hold those responsible.

"In my opinion, we have seen the video. It's very surprising. This practice is completely unacceptable. Humans should not be used as human shields," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Matthew Miller in response to reporters' questions reported by Reuters, Tuesday, June 25.

"IDF must immediately investigate what happened, hold the public accountable," Miller said.

As previously reported, the Israeli military tied a Palestinian man who was injured on the hood of a military vehicle during operations in the occupied West Bank.

The video shows the man lying in front of an Israeli whistle while passing Jenin on Saturday, June 22. The man looked helpless on the hood of the vehicle while passing the Palestinian Red Crescent (PRCS) ambulance.

PRCS said the Israeli military had prevented its crew from providing first aid to a man injured in the West Java area of Jenin.

"They then put the injured person in front of a military torch and detained him before allowing our crew to move him to the hospital," PRCS said.

The condition and identity of the man is not yet known.

In response to questions about the incident, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said its troops violated "standard operating orders and procedures" and investigations would be carried out.

"The troop's behavior in the incident video does not match the IDF's values. This incident will be investigated and handled properly," the IDF said in a statement.
