Minister Of Home Affairs Inaugurates 3 Acting Governors, 1 Rotation From North Sumatra Leads NTB

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian inaugurated 3 acting (Pj) governors at the Sasana Bhakti Praja Building, Head Office of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), Jakarta, Monday, June 24.

First, Major General Hassanudin, who was previously the Acting Governor of North Sumatra (North Sumatra), was appointed Acting Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Hassanudin replaces Lalu Gita Ariadi who is said to have resigned because he is running as a candidate for governor of NTB 2024-2029.

The seat of Acting Governor of North Sumatra was then occupied by Agus Fatoni, a bureaucrat of the Ministry of Home Affairs who previously served as Acting Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel).

Meanwhile, the seat of Acting Governor of South Sumatra is now filled by Elen Setiadi who is an Expert Staff for Regulation, Law Enforcement, and Economic Resilience of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto.

The inauguration was carried out based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 70/P of 2024 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Acting Governors.

"By Allah, I swear, I will fulfill my obligations as governor as well as possible, and fairly, uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible, and serve the community, state and nation," said three governors taking the oath to follow Tito's statement.

For information, before being elected and inaugurated, the names of the candidates for the governor's acting should be proposed by several parties first and undergo the selection process.

Based on Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 4 of 2023, the Minister of Home Affairs can propose 3 names, then the Chairperson of the Provincial DPRD can also propose 3 names.

The names of the governor candidates, according to the regulations above, will be discussed together in the final assessment team meeting (TPA), before being elected by the president.
