Immigration Adds Personnel To Handle Traffic System Constraints At Soekarno-Hatta Airport
The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkuham) added as many as 100 personnel at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) immigration checkpoint (TPI) to deal with crossing system constraints.
"Until now, the crossing system at airports and ports has not been able to operate normally. To overcome this situation, we have added personnel at immigration checkpoints," said Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim when checking queues and service systems for International Terminal 3 crossings at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 21.
The addition of 100 personnel is a response as well as an effort by the Directorate General of Immigration to overcome long queues due to immigration service constraints affected by interference from the National Data Center (PDN) of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo).
"Currently the inspection counters at all international arrival terminals are fully occupied by officers; and we will add an additional counter," said Silmy.
He said, until Friday night, the queue at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport TPI was more under control than Thursday (20/6), the first day of PDN disturbances. To break down the queue, a special route for Hajj pilgrims in the arrival area is also opened.
Meanwhile, immigration checks are carried out manually. Officers apply arrival stamps by writing down date, time, flight number, officer initials and documentation.

For foreign nationals (foreigners), visa number records and residence permit durations are also also carried out. In addition, Silmy ensures that the system to check passengers who are included in the penalty list can operate.
"To anticipate the passing of passengers included in the checking list, the passenger system analysis unit (passenger passenger analysis unit) has been operational to verify whether someone is on the penalty list or not using a camera that is available at every immigration counter," he said.
Immigration also provides additional waiting rooms with 100 seats for Indonesian citizens and foreigners stationed outside the immigration inspection area, in order to reduce queue accumulation during peak hours.
In addition to this effort, Silmy said the Ministry of Communication and Informatics was still working to deal with obstacles to PDN.
