Tesla Accelerates Cybertruck Charging, Overcome Consumer Complaints

Jakarta - Tesla will soon improve its Cybertruck charging performance after receiving complaints regarding its compatibility with Superchargers.

According to an InsideEVs report, Friday, June 21, Cybertruck is equipped with an 800-volt charging architecture that promises super fast charging. However, several problems were found that caused charging to be not optimal, even slower than Rivian R1T which only had 400-volt batteries.

Teslarati also reported another problem to the Cybertruck, which is charging cables that become excessive heat when using a Supercharger.

Responding to the complaint, Tesla will launch an Over The Air (OTA) update in the second quarter of this year. This update was revealed by Cybertruck Lead Engineer Wes Morrill via its social media briefly, "Coming Soon via OTA."

Previously, Tesla's SVP Power Train and Energy Drew Baglino in April said that the OTA update would increase the average charging range by 154 miles or 247 km. However, Baglino did not explain whether this upgrade would apply to all versions of driving all wheels.

Currently, with the latest software version, the Cybertruck fast charging (DC) for 15 minutes can increase the range to 128 miles for the AWD version. It is hoped that with the OTA update, this range will increase.

The increase in charging performance is an important step for Tesla to increase the attractiveness of the Cybertruck and make it more competitive in the electric vehicle market.
