Former OpenAI Founder, Ilya Sutskever, Starts A New AI Company, Focuses On Security

JAKARTA - The co-founder and former main scientist of OpenAI, Ilya Sutskever, announced on Wednesday 19 June that he started a new artificial intelligence (AI) company. The company focuses on creating a secure AI environment as some of the largest tech companies seek to dominate AI's generative explosions.

The new company is called Safe Super Intelligence, which is described on its website as an American company with offices in Palo Alto and Tel Aviv. Sutskever made this announcement through a post on platform X.

"Our single focus means no disruption by management or product cycles, and our business model means safety, security, and progress are all protected from short-term commercial pressure," the post said.

Sutskever was accompanied by former OpenAI researchers Daniel Levy and Daniel Gross, co-founder Cue and former AI leader at Apple, as co-founders of Safe Intelligence.

Sutskever left the Microsoft-backed OpenAI in May after playing a key role in the dramatic dismissal and recruitment of CEO Sam Altman in November last year. Sutskever was removed from the company board after Altman returned.

With the establishment of Safe Super Intelligence, Sutskever hopes to create a safer and more focused AI environment, far from short-term commercial pressure, to advance AI technology more responsibly and safely.
