Riau Police Arrest 9.5 Kg Of Shabu And 9,000 Ecstasy Pills

PeKANBARU - Riau Police revealed 9.5 kilograms (kg) of crystal methamphetamine and 9,000 ecstasy pills from a suspect who was on his way from Bengkalis to Pekanbaru City.

Director of the Narcotics Directorate of the Riau Police, Kombes Manang Soebeti, said that the evidence was brought by perpetrator J (39) using two backpacks. Initially, the Opsnal Team of Sub-Directorate II of the Narcotics Directorate of the Riau Police detected a plan to send goods from Bengkalis to Pekanbaru, Tuesday (18/6).

"From that information, we carried out an 'intercept' and the suspect was detected passing through the Maredan Cross Area, Siak. The team saw that two motorbikes were driven by two people," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 20.

Then the team stopped the suspect when he was about to carry out transactions to the recipient of the goods.

However, when the arrest was made, one of the two suspects managed to escape. Meanwhile, another person fled towards the oil palm plantation and was arrested.

Based on interrogation and development, the man who ran away was a drug case recidivist. He continued that the Narcotics Directorate had also detected a man with the initials S.

"Currently S is still being chased and designated as a wanted list," he said.

Meanwhile, the origin of the goods according to the confession of suspect J who knew directly was S. However, his party has information that this item may have from a correctional institution.

"The suspect admitted that he was ordered by someone to deliver the goods from Bengkalis to Pekanbaru," he continued.
