Ask Mining Players To Finance Mining Research, Luhut: Tony Freeport Has A Lot Of Money
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked Indonesian mining actors to help finance studies and research conducted by universities in Indonesia.
Luhut said that recently while attending a discussion with the Professor Council of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB UI) on Wednesday, June 19, it was known that their research budget was hya, amounting to Rp1.6 billion.
"I hope the mining players can help the university for this study. And we from Marves, tell them to study. Or MIND ID or Tony (Wenas) (President Director of PTFI), Freeport has a lot of money," said Luhut while attending MINDIALogue, Thursday, June 20.
Luhut said, it is very unfortunate if the potential of smart young people not to develop through various research activities. For this reason, he encourages mining actors to finance specific research related to mining and environmental impacts caused by mining activities.
"So corruption is passed. We will subtract the conflict of interest. If we want to move forward, we must set an example. Lead by example is the best. There is nothing else," continued Luhut.

Luhut also gave a special message to the President-elect of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. Luhut advised Prabowo to contribute in the education sector so that he could advance the field of research and technology in the mining world which is still far behind China.
"I entrust that if you can help with the universities and specifically, the team's study can be honed and we can catch up with China with its research," concluded Luhut.
