Worried About Bribery Practices, KPK Asked To Kubu Pegi Setiawan To Monitor Pretrial
The attorney and family of the suspect in the Vina murder case, Pegi Setiawan, asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to monitor the pretrial process submitted.
This was conveyed by Pegi's attorney, Toni RM, who visited the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, June 20. Toni emphasized that monitoring needed to be done because he was worried that money would be given.
"Our arrival here conveys a letter requesting supervision in terms of the KPK's authority is prevention, concerns about bribery in the pretrial trial of Pegi Setiawan," Toni told reporters.
Toni said indications of bribery and gratification practices had not been seen. However, his party asked for prevention to be carried out so that the opportunity for giving does not occur.
"Why do we submit a letter asking the KPK to monitor the law enforcement officers involved in the pretrial trial process, Pegi Setiawan," he said.
Moreover, the Pegi camp still believes that the police made the wrong arrest in Vina's murder. Thus, there are concerns that pretrial legal remedies will be played to pass the case which is considered odd by Toni and the Pegi family.
"We see this case as forced, so when we sue for pretrial, we are worried about the evidence we have, which we think is very minimal," he said.

As previously reported, Pegi Setiawan's legal team consisting of 22 people filed a pretrial lawsuit against the Bandung District Court on Tuesday, June 11. Then the trial will be held at the Bandung District Court (PN) on June 24, 2024.
"It is planned that the trial will be held on June 24, 2024, later friends can also attend related to pretrial activities or lawsuits," said Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police Kombes Jules Abraham Abast in Bandung, Antara, Thursday, June 20.
Jules said it had formed a legal team to face a pretrial lawsuit filed by legal counsel Pegi Setiawan (PS) in the trial to be held later.
"In handling the pretrial lawsuit that was faced, of course we have prepared a team from the attorney of the West Java Regional Police," he said.
He emphasized that the West Java Regional Police were ready to face the pretrial lawsuit. In fact, he has prepared documents to face a pretrial lawsuit.
"This team has been formed and of course to face a pretrial lawsuit from the attorney of the suspect PS," he said.
