Taufik Hidayat Didn't Expect Jonathan And Ginting To Bring A Gold Medal From The Olympics
JAKARTA Indonesian badminton legend, Taufik Hidayat, refuses to expect grandiose to the men's singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie to bring home a gold medal from the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Ginting and Jonathan will be the backbone of Indonesia when they are in France. They have the task of ending the men's singles gold medal drought since Taufik held it at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Taufik said that the opponents who will be faced in Paris will actually be no different from what is often encountered in the BWF World Tour tournament. So, according to him, the opportunity to beat each other is open.
"The condition is that they (Jonatan and Ginting) can win medals, yes, but we are not talking about gold medals but just medals first," said Taufik when met in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Jonathan and Ginting began to doubt being able to bear the burden of men's singles when they were in Paris due to poor results in their last tournament at the Indonesia Open 2024 on June 4-9, 2024.
At the Super 1000 BWF level, the second step ran aground in the first half. The result was seen as a step back as the Olympics got closer.
Taufik assessed that the appearance at the Indonesia Open 2024 was an anticlimactic of the mentality of the two names after they previously met in the All England 2024 final in March 2024.
"Now there are more than a month left. When it comes to technique and physical, I think they are very sure. It's just a matter of what to do mentally," said Taufik.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. In total there are more than 10 thousand athletes from 206 delegates who will be contestants there.
Referring to the Olympics schedule, badminton will start on June 28 to August 5, 2024. The match will take place at the Porte De La Chapelle Arena, Paris, France.
The badminton team will leave there on July 13, 2024. They will go to Chambly first to undergo a training camp before entering the athletes' village.
