Tito Regarding The Deputy Minister Of Home Affairs Wants To Run For The Central Papua Gubernatorial Election: His Rights, Political Rights Are OK
JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian responded to the news that Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo was given a letter of recommendation by the Hanura Party for the 2024 Pilkada.
"I haven't heard from Hanura yet, but if Mr. Wempi says that he wants to participate in the Pilkada in Central Papua, yes, that's his right, political rights are allowed," Tito said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 19.
Tito then reminded everyone to contest the 2024 Pilkada. However, for the state civil apparatus (ASN), he said, it was to stop as ASN before being appointed as a candidate pair, September 22, 2024.

"As for regional heads who have the election results, the rule is that they do not resign, but take leave," he said.
The Minister of Home Affairs said that members of the legislature elected for the 2024 General Election must also resign if they participate in the 2024 Pilkada because the goal of being elected during elections and regional elections is different.
"When he wanted to register as a member of the legislature, his goal was to become a representative of the people, not to become a regional head. When he changed lanes to become regional head, he had to resign. That's the rule," he explained.
