The Impact Of Online Gambling Is Increasingly Acute To Evidence Of Government Immpowerability

JAKARTA A public policy observer, Trubus Rahadiansyah, believes that the impact of online gambling which has become increasingly acute has recently become proof of the government's inability to eradicate the community's illness.

"I see that the government's efforts are still lacking. In fact, it seems as if there is an impression of omission. Eradication must reach the root of the problem, while the efforts made do not affect the root of the problem," he said, Sunday, June 16, 2024.

He revealed that in the past gambling was only played by the lower middle class or unemployed. However, along with technological developments, currently, elites or officials, even law enforcers are dragged into gambling. The reason is, there are still many people who think gambling is an easy way to get money.

According to Trubus, the efforts that have been carried out by the online gambling eradication task force (task force) are only targeting surfaces or users. Even though the task force should be more eyeing online gambling airports.

"When the airports have touched the elite or bureaucratic officials, in the end (the eradication) will catch the wind. So what there is enforcement is only to the perpetrators, not the dealer," he added.

Moreover, continued Trubus, not a few officials or officials are actually involved in gambling practices. This can be seen from the case of a police officer in Mojokerto who was burned by his wife because he was triggered by an online gambling problem.

"Indeed, this is chronic, because the controllers are people or 'decision makers', law enforcers themselves. So I think it seems like the country is powerless to deal with this," he said.
