KPU Masifkan Socialization Ahead Of The West Sumatra DPD Re-voting Results Of Irman Gusman's Lawsuit

The General Election Commission (KPU) of West Sumatra Province (West Sumatra) will intensify socialization regarding re-voting or PSU for candidates for DPD RI members for the period 2024-2029, in order to increase voter participation.

"Since there is no campaign in the PSU stage, the KPU will intensify socialization to the public," said West Sumatra KPU Commissioner Ory Sativa Syakban in Padang as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 14.

This was conveyed by Ory Sativa in anticipation of the potential decline in the level of voter participation when the PSU for candidates for DPD RI members was implemented. Moreover, the Constitutional Court in the decision of case Number 03-03/PHPU.DPD-XXII/2024 said there should be no campaigns during the PSU stage.

The West Sumatra KPU has held a plenary meeting, one of which is related to the preparation of socialization to voters. After the announcement of the list of permanent candidates (DCT) announced by the Indonesian KPU, within 11 days the KPU will intensify socialization.

"We will intensify the socialization of this PSU, the KPU also asks for help from the mass media to re-socialize it to the public," he said.

Previously, the former chairman of the DPD for the 2009-2016 period, Irman Gusman, said that the decision of the Constitutional Court which granted all the 2024 General Election Result Dispute (PHPU) lawsuits he submitted was proof of the upholding of law and democracy in Indonesia.

Regarding the necessity to announce identity to participate in the PSU, Irman Gusman admitted that he did not question it. Apart from being ready to announce it to the public, the politician who was born in Padang Panjang City on February 11, 1962 admitted that he had absolutely no burden, and was ready to face the PSU according to the decision of Case Number 03-03/PHPU.DPD-XXII/2024.

Separately, candidates for DPD members for the West Sumatra constituency with the most votes were 465,958 Cerint Illoza Tasya admitted that they did not really mind the PSU without a campaign. "I will intensify communication with my family to constituents who vote on February 14, 2024," he said.
