Walter, The Orangutan Predicts Germany's Thin Victory Over Scotland At Euro 2024

JAKARTA - Host Euro 2024, Germany, is predicted to win a narrow victory in their opening match against Scotland. This, according to a forecast from an orangutan named Walter, at the Dortmund Zoo. This 35-year-old orangutan is no longer foreign in predicting the outcome of football matches. This time he wants to, show his abilities again.

Walter was a veteran in his previous World Cup and Euro campaigns, as well as various competitions for German and European clubs. On Thursday, June 13, two buckets were placed at home, one with a German scarf and the other with a Scottish scarf.

"The author stopped in front of the buckets, then he saw the two buckets and firmly headed for the German bucket. So, I think this will be a win for the German team against Scotland. But then he headed for the Scottish bucket, so maybe Scotland will be very close too," said zoo spokesman Marcel Stawinoga.

Eurro 2024 starts on Friday 14 June in Munich, and Germany will start as a strong favorite against Scotland.

Walter joins other animal lists such as octopuses and elephants that have predicted the outcome of international football matches, usually by choosing a bowl of food that carries the flag of a particular team over others.

One of the most famous is Paul, a fortune teller octopus who lives in an aquarium in the city of Oberhausen, Germany, and became famous at the 2010 World Cup for his extraordinary ability to predict the outcome of Germany's matches. He managed to predict how Germany will appear in seven matches.

Orangutans are native Kalimantan primates that do resemble humans in many ways, including their intelligence and ability to interact with the surrounding environment. Walter has become the main attraction in the Dortmund Zoo and is known for his sharp instincts in predicting the outcome of football matches.

Will Walter's forecast prove accurate? We'll just have to wait for the results at the opening match of Euro 2024!
